Discouragement – Peace – Hope



Have you ever been discouraged before? Have you received news that was very disappointing and you felt just broken before the Lord?

I’ve been there and tonight was such a night for me – a night of disappointment, discouragement, brokenness.

Then I turn to the Word and the following verses come to mind to minister to me.

If you’ve been there, or maybe you're there now, I pray that these same verses will be of encouragement to you as well.


"Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God."

~Psalm 43:5 (NIV)

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
~Philippians 4:6-7 (NASB)

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

You have no idea how this has helped... after waiting 4 years while my husband was in prison, being a single mom, having him released, working for 18 months to get him integrated back into our home, back into church, to see God working in his life, only to have it all taken away a week ago due to the Devil and his sinful hold on my husband via the internet... and wrestling all week with anger, depression, who's fault, who failed, where is God, why is He not protecting our fragile home, why did daddy have to go, is he ever coming back, mommy why are you crying, how come it hurts so bad when you love so completely, betrayal, tears, and on and on... Then like your comment says the verses, the Word, keeps coming - it doesn't make me feel any better, but I can feel peace in the storm, I can understand the apostles words - consider it joy when you suffer... thanks.

    First off, thanks for leaving a comment and most of all for sharing from your heart the circumstances you’re facing! I’m sorry for your suffering and grief and will pray for you dear child of God. Cling to Him. His Word is true and He loves you and He knows and sees what you’re going through. Jesus is the great healer and His Spirit is the great helper. May the ministry of the Holy Spirit be with you today as you work through all of the things you shared.
