Read and Pray Through:2 Corinthians 3:2-3
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You and praise You again for being the perfect Father and example of how to be a Father. Thank You also for the real gift and honor it is to be a dad to the children You've given me to help guide down the right path.
Each day I realize more an more that my children are a reflection of me...like it or not.
They say and do things that I say and do and sometimes I pause and think, where did they get that word? Or, where did they learn that action? Then just before I complete that thought or right after, I realized where and whether bad or good, the finger points back at me.
Sometimes I'm ashamed of the blunders I've made but yet even in my many imperfections, You're teaching me that they are teachable moments...
Moments where I can be transparent and confess to them that I blew it and I'm sorry...
Moments where I can show them that even through the mistakes we make that there is a better way...
I pray that by Your Spirit that I'll live a life that my children will want to follow after as they'll live and leave their own legacy.
In my day-to-day life, help me to model what daily walking in and abiding with You looks like.
Help me to make my own devotional times and encouraging my children to have their own devotional times too a priority as seeking You sets precedence for all other things.
Help me to seek the greater reward, Your reward instead of merely earthly rewards.
In my business dealings, may I be an example of strong ethics and character.
In my financial dealings, may I be an example of someone who manages their money wisely, who communicates clearly and often with my spouse about finances and does their best to help keep a budget and help me to be someone who is generous with the resources You've blessed us with.
In my relationships...
May I be an example of someone who genuinely cares...
Someone who seeks to communicate effectively...
Someone who operates with compassion and balances all things with Your grace and truth...
Help me to balance the responsibilities of life with fun too...
Help me to be an example of integrity...
Help me to be an example of someone who has true faith...
Help me to be an example of someone who owns their faith and seeks to grow daily in faith...and help me to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of You.
Help me to cultivate to soil in the ground You've planted me in including where You've planted others.
Help me to show my children that they matter, they have a purpose and are of great worth!
Most of all, help me to point them to You!
Through Your Word and by Your Spirit, please help me to realize that I'm like a letter that my children see and read on a daily basis from the time they are born until they are launched into adulthood...they see and hear me. I pray that it's one worthy of reading!
Help me by Your Spirit be an example of someone who doesn't necessarily live a perfect life but seeks with all that is within me to live a good life for Your kingdom, glory and the good of my family and I.
Please use me to show them how to live a good life and Help me to be an example that they'd want to follow after as I follow You.
In Jesus name I praise You and thank You and I ask all these things in His name, amen.
