Read and Pray through: Deuteronomy 6:6-9 and Proverbs 22:6
Heavenly Father,
I praise You and thank as You're my Father, my greatest example.
It's an amazing privilege to be a dad and I'm reminded that You've called me to lead the children that You've blessed me with.
I need to actively lead and I confess that sometimes I'm not sure how best to do this!
Help me seek You and depend on Your strength, wisdom and guidance to know what to do and how to lead them.
I also pray that You help me to be present when I'm with them.
Life is full of so many activities and sometimes distractions from work, bills to pay, budgets to keep, my hobbies, my service at church and elsewhere my favorite sport teams to follow, books to read, deals to make and many other things including technology that often gets in the way of my presence.
With all these things I realize and confess I'm present physically but sometimes not really present. Again, please help me to be...more present.
I'm amazed as I read Your Word how much You love us and teach us! I know in turn that You've call me as a dad, as a parent to essentially be their first teacher.
Each day from the time they are born until they launch into adulthood I teach them practically through my life and through what I actively seek to instill in them.
Help me to teach them...
life skills...
character skills...
things they want to learn...
spiritual truths...
how to be a disciple...
how to walk with you...
much much more...
Help me know what to teach them and when.
Help me to actively teach as they'll always be learning something from someone or something and as their dad I have an amazing opportunity, privilege and responsibility to teach them many things. Help me teach they right and teach them the truth!
If one day they should stray from the path set before them, may they return to Your true path again.
Most importantly, I pray that by Your Spirit that You help me show my children by my actions and word Who Christ is.
Please help me show them the pathway to faith and how to walk in and with Christ day-to-day.
I pray that ultimately You draw them to Yourself as I plant seeds and point them to You.
Help them to see You in me.
I pray that I take my responsibility to Lead, Teach and Show the way seriously! Help me remain active and vigilant in all these things.
In Jesus Name I praise You, thank You and ask all these things, Amen.
In Christ Alone and for His Glory,
Your brother and servant,
rlk
